Mobike

MoBike is a mobile intervention for the urban space, making reference to the mobile and the mobility. From imminent connectivity and network communication, MoBike portrays with good humor the perspective of social networks under two wheels. In a trike bike with a multimedia projector and panel, images shared in networks by the hashtag # MoBike2016 and # bicicultura2016 will be projected in real time. As a large mobile cinema, this bike exposes the content fed into network sharing, rethinking the perspective of curation as "caretaking", in the sense that the project approaches more of an attempt to take care of the viability of the exposure of the images than of an authoritarian and selective screening. It also discusses the bicycle as a powerful imagery support, beyond the dimensions of physical activity or means of transportation. The project includes real-time projections, projected performances pre-assembled from Instagram content, and various sounds in dialogue with audiovisual, analog and digital culture.

The panel portrays the aesthetics of the cell phone, representing a great smartphone riding a bike, as a direct analogy to mobility. If the records circulate in the network, the analogy works to discuss and rethink the way of pedaling, experiencing and seeing the urban landscape. The objective is to involve the city in the reflection on urban mobility, rethinking the aesthetics of the affective networks built on the image in constant fluidity.

Equipments: Trike / bike adapted; Projector; Raspberry Pi.
Panobike

Interactive installation, built from a bike like console, in which the interator pedals and controls virtual panoramic environments elaborated from the city of São Paulo. The rafters travel through the city, punctuated by glitch and image editing techniques, creating a parallel universe to pedal and reflect the urban aesthetics that surrounds the bikes.
The concepts that involve this project are the Internet of Things and common objects that become data inputs, experiences and sensitivity. The Panobike makes the technology accessible through a playful experience of physical computing, rethinking space, the city and mobility.

Equipment: bike with Arduino; touch sensors; magnetic sensor; multimedia projectors.

Both projects happened at the same time in the Festival Bicicultura 2016, at downtown São Paulo, in a big open area called Arts Square (Praça das Artes). My main role in both was technical, design and conceptual, as one of the creators. The experience of Panobike makes me realise the potentiality of hacking objects and subvert the functions, to go further. Mobike has a big potential as a mobile cinema, bringing a social discussion about the anonymous that makes the urban place, which lives are exposed in the social media.

I believe projects like that has a social mission to make people experience their body and the space in a different way, and, again, explore the city as an interface for bikes, bodies and memories mediated by ubiquos technology.
