InterAffective Swings is an interactive urban furniture design that lights up to the touch. It unites people, cities and sensibilities through a tactile and visual experience. An affective network that allows strangers to socialize among themselves by the most primitive sense of all: the act of touching the neighbor. We want to unite people and make the city an interface of affection. The swing works in the forgotten spaces of the city, where people are invisible before the routine. The center was chosen because it represents the space full of objects, however, whose human approach is diluted in the middle of the city. These swings are made for people. Humans and humans, making urban space more intelligent through affection. The affection that generates light, which illuminates and welcomes. The empathy for the furniture is perceived in the choice of these materials. Somehow, urban furniture fulfills numerous roles of socialization and reoccupation of the spaces of the city. |

The presence of objects of corporal connection generates new tensions - forgotten - urban, that consist in the meeting of strange people. The act of reappropriating objects feeds the culture maker, but above all, empowers people to transform the spaces they inhabit. It is not just about reforming an object, but about revising the function of affection and how balance sheets can contribute to building a tangible social network in the city. The illuminating function of the swings helps in building the concept of illuminating the city with affection. After all, what is proposed is that the touches generate light, in an analogy to human warmth and the very rebirth of a humanized society, based on gestures of love and empathy.

As one of the creators, I was part from the concept to the prototype. InterAffective Swing made me discover news skills and connect me more with physical computing, with industrial design, allowing me to study materials and circuits. It reaffirms my interest in the city space and in social engagement trough digital art, taking us to the heart of São Paulo, dealing with all social classes, going beyond fears, cultural hierarchies and prejudices.
